i also take pictures. nung di pa kasaganahan ng mga Digital Cameras, i trained myself with a Canon AE-1. that was when I was in 6th grade, mga middle 2000s. 12 y.o yata ako nun

nababadtrip lang ako kasi ngayon pag may dala ka nang DSLR, photographer ka na! di nila alam madalas yung naka AI/iA tapos ang inaadjust nila e yung focus nalang. nawala na yung art and skill sa pagseset ng aperture saka shutter speed and pagpili ng matinong film.
being the rebel that I am, mejo adamant akong bumili ng DSLR. kaya mediocre point and shoot binili ko... di naman talaga point and shoot, but still.
at the very least, pwede ko tong dalhin kahit saan without lulling those heavy equipment I used to carry before. yun nga lang, limited ang quality nya.

and I have ventured onto something na mejo hindi madaling gawin. di sya easy sa point and shoot. good thing Im using a Panasonic Lumix ZS7. though may limitations, I can go on manual. ang reason lang siguro kung bakit ako magsswitch sa DSLR e yung Bulb setting.

I do Light Paintings. but being the typeface addict that I am, I just 'write'. hence the term, Light Writing. little did I know na meron talaga... hahahaha
psot ako ng pics pag na'upload na sa PB. di ako marunong magpaste ng pics dito from flickr e. hahaha

actually, mejo against din ako sa mga taong naka DSLR only to use the AUTO function of the camera... kasi nacompromise talaga yung creativity mo and comes in the way of taking good pictures with adequate exposure. Ako ever since i did full manual sa settings (except autofocus, and auto white balance), i never looked back.

regarding sa point and shoot na gamit mo, walang masama dun bro. its not the gear that matters, but how you use the gear you have. meron akong kaibigan naka entry level Nikon D3000 na DSLR pangit na pangit sya sa camera nya but when i tried it, ok naman, also tried entry level Canon 550D na DSLR, and still can get the results i want from it. ako nga ngayun pag di ko dala camera ko, gamit ko yung 5MP na cameraphone ko... here are some sample snaps:

naniniwala ako sa kasabihan na pinasikat ni Chase Jarvis (isang sikat na american photographer) - "The best camera is the one you have with you"

thanks bro. i totally agree with you. and you know how disappointing it is to hear all the fuss about large megapixels? sa common man e mas mataas megapixel, mas okay. di na tinignan ang quality ng sensor.
dati, ang labanan e yung may cash ka, and you got the skills to do photography. ngayon, yung cash nalang. mejo bagsak na yung art dahil nga sa AI. sad. i bet they didnt even know what SLR means in the first place.haaaay

anong 5mp cameraphone gamit mo? okay ang mga pics ah. hahaha merong nokia na phased'out model na, mababa yung specs pero okay yung natetake na pics.

that was my point. back then, nabadtrip talaga ako. i was thinking, it doesnt matter kung anong camera gamit ko. as long as i know how to handle one.
di talaga ako ng DSLR. and fortunately, okay naman ang mga shots na nagagawa ko using the zs7.

i guess, kahit kakaibang branch sya ng photography, i ventured in Light Painting/ Writing.

kahit anong ganda ng camera, kung walang perseverance at patience, di gaganda mga shots. hahahaha
