I think the correct term is omens.
For example having a black cat cross your path means bad luck will happen.
Or breaking a mirror = bad luck etc.
Hormones are sometimes a "reaction", but sometimes just happen.
A woman are most attractive to men 14 days before their period.
This is hormonal since they are most fertile at this point in time.

Most of the time I can detach myself from my emotions if I choose to.
Filipina in my experience seem to have more trouble detaching from their emotions.
Hard to explain
They act coy and sexy at the same time. But they kinda act all innocent.
But then if they get attracted to someone, they like go crazy
