true love? there's no such thing as true love. the only thing that is true about love is everyone gets happy, and most of the time, everyone gets hurt.


frankly, i don't think everyone is looking for love. each and everyone of us is just looking for a partner that we could get along with until we get old. love, o true love, is overused and abused just to get someone to bed and be laid.

Finding true love is a combination of choice and chance.

First, we have to define "true love" and carefully go through our choices. Chance comes in the form of the potential partners that we encounter. If we make the wrong choice in picking out that one person who's just right for you, then that's when we end up hurt and well, cynical and jaded.

A pseudo celebrity couple who happen to be close to me recently broke up. Everybody was flabbergasted. They were the ultimate icons of what we deem "the perfect couple"; a match made in heaven so to speak. But they parted ways knowing that the kind of love they share is not the type that lights up fireworks. They just became each other's security blanket. And they both accepted that it's time to move on and let each other find "true love".

I was dumbfounded because here I am, having such a hard time letting go of the sad excuse of a jerk I let myself love. And there she was, sad eyed and all but full of exuberance for another quest of waiting for her "Mr. Just Right for Me". And she gave me the wisest piece of advice her dad shared with her.

"Don't ever settle. Settling for less means that you're willing to take in bits and scraps and you don't want that. You want the whole package. You wouldn't expect a gift to be half baked right? So why settle for something less than you deserve especially since this is ones whole lifetime we're talking about."

With that, I felt soooooo much better. And that's the hardest part. Stepping out the door with both feet firmly following your mind's orders to run fast and far away from that bastard who broke my heart.
