Complicated
There is disagreement on the concept of gay/lesbian vs straight.
In my case, I have never been attracted to men in a sexual way.
I have know a lot of people men and women who are 100% gay/lesbian and bi.
So for me it is kind of confusing, I honestly don't know

The lying part is understandable.
A lot of people are not very open about this sort of thing.
So the man will be shocked, maybe hurt, maybe he will wonder why can he not satisfy your other needs etc.
Depending on how open minded he is, he might come back to you.
But initially he definitely will be hurt.

I like being an honest person, but then sometimes you don't want other people to know the truth. It is too hard to explain etc.
Maybe yourself where confused when you started with the BF.

Difficult. Maybe other guys can offer advice

Its really complicated but it depends on your man how he will accept you. The best thing you do is to be honest with him. He'll be hurt for sure unless he's bisexual too.
